James Corey

Beginning in 1981 until 2013, this man coached for a total of 16 years at Arlington Memorial High School.  He coached both boys and girls to a total of 244 wins.  During this time, his teams made 8 final four appearances.  Additionally, his teams won 5 state championships, were runners up once, and won numerous league titles.  He was the recipient of many Coach of the Year awards and has continued to give of his time by officiating middle school and youth league basketball games.

His coaching career began as a junior varsity coach at Arlington Memorial High School.  In 1974 he moved to Mount Mansfield Union High School and became the varsity boys coach.  In the ensuing 24 years, he turned a struggling program into a very successful one, winning 240 games and becoming state champions in 1995.  His teams were always known for their defensive abilities and a disciplined offense.  He retired in 1998 but continued to work with players through AAU programs.

​In his 15 years of coaching between 1986 and 2010, he coached girls and boys at Arlington Memorial High School for a combined total of 252 wins.  Those teams reached the final four 10 times, were runners up once, and were state champions 4 times.  His teams won 7 league titles and he was named Coach of the Year numerous times.  He continues to be involved with basketball by officiating middle school and youth league games.

2022 VBCA Hall of Fame Inductee: Shirley Brusso
She coached from 1977-1999 at Mill River Union High School.
Her record is 288-187. She won her league 4 times, was state runner up in '84, '85, and '86. Coach of the Year in the MVL twice
